CASTING –

Tom is in charge of casting the clip although as a group we have an agreed idea of what kinds of people we will need for it. We need a skinny male with medium/ long hair for The Joker, 2 muscly males for the henchmen with short hair and one average but older looking male for the main antagonist in the clip. We will get consent from them when we cast them as Tom will ask them if they are available and then inform them all of what it is that they will be doing. Although we are only in college so our ages range from 16-18 we will need people for the clip who look older than us to make the clip look realistic and add verisimilitude. This will be an issue that we will have to address by either altering their appearance in post-production or using make up while filming.

COSTUME –

The Joker will be wearing a white shirt to show the blood more and dark trousers. For the scars we will need to buy a 2oz pot of 3^rd Degree Modelling Compound which at its cheapest price is $21.60 (£13.52) and we will need fake blood and face paints. This will be easy because it has just been Halloween so there will be a lot of shops with some left over that is on offer. To tie him up we will need some rope which is fairly cheap from most hardware shops.

The Henchmen will be wearing either Black suits with white shirts and black ties or black trousers and black t-shirts. I don’t want to show their faces in the clip so they will have sunglasses on just in case they aren’t tall enough to be in shot without having their faces too. I will make an exception for this during the action shots as the joker is attacking them and I will have the top half of their bodies fully in shot and maybe a wide angle shot.

The Interrogator will be wearing a black suit with a white shirt and either a black or red tie. He will have aviator sunglasses on to add mystery.

LIGHTING-

For the lighting, I have seen a method that will allow us to use only one light which will be directly above the table which will reflect some of the light onto the actors faces but not as harshly. This gives a lot of shadows on the faces while also having them lit enough. We will have a white and a black sheet to put on the table which will control the amount of light that is being reflected onto the actors face. I want to use the white sheet for the jokers shots so that he is more visible and the black sheet for the interrogator so that he is less visible which adds mystery to him. The Light will either be set in place with a stand to make the light more steady or we can have it attached to another piece of rope over a beam on the ceiling of the room so that it sways a bit to take away some of the luminosity and make the shots more appropriate for the horror/ action genres.

There will also be a small lamp on the table to add a bit of extra light in case the one light doesn’t quite work the way that I hope it will. I will also be using another light to light the back wall where the henchmen will be stood. This is because the location we are using is on a farm and all of the equipment is in this room which looks creepy and if I use the lighting correctly, I can use this to my advantage with the horror genre. Another idea we had was to have a few tools placed on the table to make it look as if the antagonists have been torturing the joker which will lead the audience to think this over in their heads without actually seeing it happen which is similar to the murders in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. This is also the technique that I want to use for the joker having his mouth cut.

FEASIBILITY –

As the film would be set in Gotham City, I wouldn’t be able to use an establishing shot as the clip will be taking place in a farm in an extremely rural area however as we discussed in the group, if the joker has been kidnapped, it would be unlikely for it to take place in the centre of the city so we could use an establishing shot of the farm.

                The actors in the clip will have to speak with an American accent because Gotham City is a fictional location but it is set in America so the verisimilitude would be disturbed if the actors started speaking with Yorkshire and Humberside based accents.

EDITING –

Because there are 4 people in our group we need to have 2 edited clips and so far we can’t decide whether to have 2 of the same clip but edited differently or if we should produce another clip from the film. If we made another clip it would maybe be The Jokers first encounter with Batman and having a fight scene but that would pose several difficulties so we would probably think of a different scene to do.
